We Were VERY VERY Bad
27 February 2012 | Boot Key Harbor, FL
We have been very bad children. We shared a rental car for one day to go to the Miami Boat Show. It seemed so logical at the time. After we got there we noticed a faint odor in the air.....it was the dreaded eau-de-weaken-your-inhibitions smell. In our case, the inhibition that weakened was hanging on to our cash! OMG!
Just to review a few facts: we have been working on refurbing this 1987 boat for six plus years. We THOUGHT we had it covered. But no. There were several things we suddenly could not live without (part of the drug induced haze).
So, once we got back to our boat the same night, we came out of our fog and realized we couldn't leave the harbor because we needed to wait for our PACKAGES to arrive!!!
Well, slowly the multiple shipments arrived, both big and small sized. The 'biggest' was a new 320 watt solar panel. since are admited power hogs, we needed more alternative energy to feed the beast...e.g. watching movies on the TV, running THREE frig compressors, etc. We replaced two 75 watt panels with the new 320 watt, bringing our total solar power up to 470 watts. The picture is of Don and friends mounting the panel on the arch over the stern.
Oh and did we mention the new steering cables?? These have not yet been installed. However, waiting for our packages did present a problem......the weather has turned VERY windy primarily out of the east. This makes for a pleasant temperature on the boat but very bad Gulf stream crossing weather.
So, we wait.
