What DO Cruisers do for vacation?
12 March 2012 | Key West, FL
The weather continues to be uncooperative. We have been busy with boat improvement projects, maintenance, socializing and, of course, watching the weather forecasts.
We met a great couple in the harbor: Jim and Cristine on ULLR, who are about as over Marathon as we are. They were nice enough to invite us to Key West for an overnight at Jim's godmother's house. It didn't take us long to accept that invitation! A short 2 hour bus ride later and we were in paradise. Patty, Jim's godmother, owns a beautiful historic Bahamas house in a wonderful neighborhood near all the downtown hotspots. The house was disassembled in the Bahamas board by board and rebuilt in Key West. The house is on the Historic Register and as you can see in the photo of the house, Jim and Cristine it is fabulous.
We all had a great time eating, drinking and laughing alot. Our hosts were so wonderful to us and made us feel very welcome. Our conversation was certainly eclectic and the company thoroughly enjoyable.
So we got out of dodge for a short respite from Boot Key Harbor and are renewed and refreshed.....and still waiting for that mythical weather window.
