Seeing as SUNBORNE, a Whitby 42 Ketch, Brewer design, was built in 1977, was an exciting experience. I started to take her south to Oswego in May of 1978. Fending off ice burgs floating down the Niagara River. Oh was it ever cold and I promised to never bring her back. As her name says "borne for the sun".

All these years she was for the summer in Florida, on the hard, with 3 Hurricanes passing over her but never got a scratch. We worked for 6 month in Canada, in the coal mines, to make money to spend, most of it the US and some in the Bahamas.

The Bahamas has over 700 Islands most of them uninhabited with long sandy beaches crystal clear water. Unspoiled and not overcrowded. Ideal for diving, snorkeling and spear fishing for fish and lobster, and has plenty of conch. This is the place where we had all the fun over the past years.

My first mate Shariffa and I kept her in excellent shape and she is better than new. I wish I could say the same thing about the Capitan.

This year we decided to take her to Trinidad, and you can follow our progress.
