It was a gorgeous day today. My parents took the kids so me and Janet could take the boat out. It's been probably 3 or 4 weeks since we've gone out. It was a perfect day. The wind was blowing from the SSE at 11 knots, so we hoisted the main and then furled out the screecher and the boat was moving along at 6 to 7 knots. I haven't had time to really play with the screecher, but today was a perfect day. We sailed all the way to the lighthouse, then along Ocean Beach, to Sailors Haven, then north to Hecksher, and then we started working our way back. By the time we headed back the wind switched to SW which is typical for the south shore in the summer. We only had to tack once when we got to the Moses bridge so we'd have a better angle to get under it. Then it was a straight shot home. Love this boat. I can't wait to take another long summer trip to Shelter Island once the kids are old enough to enjoy it.

The summer has had it's last gasp. Last weekend was probably the best we'll see. This week the lows will hit 33, so it's time to wrap it up. Eric is running across the room, and Emily is not that far behind. I think her first free steps are just a few days away. Hopefully next year we'll get to enjoy the boat more because this year was a write off. We did use the boat a little, a few sailing days, on day to Connetquot River in Oakdale, a couple of sun tanning days by the Moses bridge, but we really didn't use the boat too much. I don't think we used the dinghy even once. But with good reasons. I love these kids. They are worth it.

Unwrapped the boat today. Cleaned her up a little and raised the mainsail so I could drain the water from the sail pack. Next week I'' change the fluids and check zinc. Might be able to sail in Mid April.
