Sundaze
Day sail.

We took a quick day sail to Sailorshaven today and then in the evening we sailed directly to Janet's house, Sundaze's future permanent home. I am going to start working on cleaning up the boat, washing and waxing it, and doing the zippered sail cover. I want the sail cover done. It's probably the most important upgrade to me other than the enclosure.

Small craft advisory

Memorial Day weekend so we headed to Sailors Haven Saturday morning for the three day weekend. It was a light air, downwind sail, that took 2 hours just to make the 3-1/2 miles to the beach. It was nice and relaxing because it was our first time back on the water. All the systems worked good. The water system smells like rotten eggs. We sailed back to the Connetquot River to sleep in a protected anchorage of calm water. Sunday morning the wind was so light we had to crank up the diesel to get the last 1-1/2 miles to the Sailors Haven. The wind switched from the northwest to the southwest just while anchoring. It picked up through out the day. That evening was the usual bumpy sleep because there are wakes hitting you from almost every direction. We need to find a better spot, like the Gilgo gunk holes. The next morning the winds were on us ealry. They picked up to 25 knots at 3pm. We left the beach and out the jib out so we could go downwind to out marina in Oakdale. When we got there I instantly knew we wouldn't be able to dock in the 25 knot cross wind. We went up the Connetquot River for a barbecue to wait out the winds. We came back to our dock at 7:30pm bu the winds didn't slacken. We tried to dock 4 times but the bow kept moving around on us. I finally docked against the gas dock and then came back at 7am to get back into my dock. I didn't realize they issued a small craft advisory on Monday. A lot of people stayed off the water because of the wind. We have to clean up the boat but I'll do that later. Good first weekend.

Sundaze has a permanent home.

Sundaze has a permanent home in West Islip at my future wife's house. Sundaze will be in West Islip fulltime probably in June or July which will be great because it has everything I need.......my fiance, electric service, water service, and all my tools will be in Janet's expanded shed. But until then Sundaze will be splitting time between weekdays at West Islip for quick easy afternoon sails and weekends in Oakdale for quicker access to Sailors Haven and Watch Hill.
