Ok, its been almost 3 months since last post.....my bad !

A lot has happened, but progress has been slow....if that makes sense : /

During June there were a number of 'issues' that cropped up. Some of them were not 'technically' our problem altho they impacted quite a bit. Oh yes, and the rainy season has struck !

Stripping of the interior to the aft cabin windows continued so that we could check the steel state. Fortunately all good on that front !
Welding was continuing while the preliminary coachhouse window openings had been cut out.

We still had a fair amount of very old solid Canadian maple T&G flooring left over from the house build. An idea mooted was to reuse this as a new sole finish....and maybe even as blocks....? A few sample planks were dug out and delivered.

The welder decided mid June, that he didn't want to work any longer so 'disappeared'. Andrew (the boat builder) also came down with heavy flu that took him out the picture for a few days.

Engine rebuild / new costs were still being chased. Damn things were so old there weren't any serial numbers for parts, and in addition, the model 4B (a non turbo version), was relatively unheard of in South Africa - they knew they existed, but were only able to catalogue the 4BT (the turbo version). Hence Cummins were rather coy on pricing.
New engine costs were also being sought from various suppliers as alternatives.

Andrew had been asked to provide 'total costs' for all the engine alternatives - ie if we got new engines it would require bed adjustments, etc etc. We were looking for a compete / no 'oh this is extra because...' costs !

Work slowed from a tortoise to a snails pace : (
