greater independence

Jenn and I were talking about our increased feeling of independence while traveling to the dinghy dock at Fernandina Beach Marina.

We purchased our Avon dinghy earlier this year and have been counting the times we have used it. I wanted to divide the usage by the purchase investment to see our cost of use. The cost has been coming down per use every time we inflate and deploy it.

So, today we filled the "stationwagon" up with our folding bikes, a new bicycle trailer, groceries, two backpacks and ourselves and motored back to SunStar2. Needless to say there was very little extra space.

This has increased our independence from tying up to a marina so we can deploy our bikes and go grocery shopping. We had been using our backpacks, but with the new trailer we can haul all our groceries and liquids (water, soda, and harder beverages) without having to rent a car or depending on the goodwill of others for transporting the heavier stuff. Not that we mind goodwill, but this has certainly given our self reliance a boost.

welcome
