Sailing On The Atlantic

13 March 2012
I am finally sailing on the Atlantic Ocean. The pictures never give a feel for what the conditions are like. I swear I was in 10 foot seas today, but the photo makes it look mild. I sailed hard for ten hours, in strong winds. It wasn't bad though - the boat found a nice tack and stayed true the whole way. I did lose part of my boarding ladder overboard, and almost my dinghy gear bag until I strapped it down. For this picture, I put the camera on the rail, perfectly horizontal to the boat. So the angle of the sea is the angle the boat is heeled over while sailing. And this with a reef in the main and a few furls in the Genny.
