Believe it or not, it took us 3 weeks to put Cetacea to bed. Someone needs to invent an Ambien for cruising yachts! We would pay dearly for that! There are so many things to do that I have a 3 page checklist. One page is Tony's "blue" jobs, one is my "pink" jobs, and the other one includes the jobs that take two people.

The blue jobs included flushing the dingy engines, cleaning and securing the dingy on the deck, servicing and flushing the 2 engines and generators, pickling the watermaker, closing the through holes, cleaning the bilges, doing the stainless outside, stowing gear below, etc. The pink jobs included doing the stainless down below, cleaning the headliner, all the teak, heads, galley and floors, doing the laundry, cleaning out all the extra food and giving away things that would perish or expire. We also inventoried all the blue and pink supplies to make a list of supplies we would need to bring back next year.

Together, we washed all 12 shade covers, hung them back up to dry and then stowed them below; took down the jib sail, folded and stowed it below; and made templates for things we wanted to replace including the pilot house carpet, cockpit cushions, instrument panel cover, and light fixtures in the pilot house. We made a list of items to check while we were gone and went through it all with Tehani, who was going to take care of Cetacea. Of course we had to save time in between work for farewell dinners with friends. Then we had to pack up all the boat parts that we needed to bring home for repair/replacement. It took a friend with a truck to get us and our 5 large roller board suitcases, 2 carry-ons, and 2-backpacks to the cruise ship terminal.
