Nov 2, Greatbridge to Broad Creek

02 November 2017 | Broad Creek Anchorage, NC
Pete, sunny mid to upper 70s fantastic day !
Yesterday we entered the lock at Great Bridge Virginia, our first experience in a lock. Everything went well and after transiting the lock we managed to grab a spot on the free docks in Great bridge.
After getting tied up to the docs we met the other cruisers who were also traveling our way, Cecil & Elena, s/v Sophia and Randy & Cindy, s/v Varuna. You meet the nicest people traveling this way!
We then walked into great Bridge with our sailing boat buddies Dean and Susan to tour the local shopping mart and pick up needed supplies. We then enjoyed dinner at a local eatery, Kelleys.
By 7 o'clock we were back aboard Avalon, had taken captain Muttley for an evening walk, and we're both reading our books . We didn't make it past 19:30hrs as we were both exhausted from a busy day of new things and lots of fresh air. We retired for the evening anxiously awaiting our next days cruising adventures!
0530 hrs we were up and at it ready to begin the day. We walked Captain Muttley into great Bridge and got real coffee from the local 7-Eleven! Then back to Avalon to relax enjoy your coffee and get ready for the day. By 9 AM we were off and made the great bridge opening and we're heading down the I CW, on our way to another day of beautiful sights and new experiences. In the afternoon we passed two of our cruising friends who had stopped in Coinjock to enjoy the famous roast beef dinners, we continued on to our Anchorage (see pic) for the evening in Broad Creek, enjoyed a beautiful sunset and a fantastic dinner of pork tenderloin applesauce yams and fresh squash. Tomorrow we cross Albermarle sound.
