Sailing with Celestial's Tripp

We are a Tripp 47 racing boat turned cruiser that we bought in Maine in 2009. We sailed it through the Panama Canal and up to Seattle then back to Mexico and over to Hawaii in 2012.

Enjoying Kaneohe Yacht Club once again

26 March 2016
We were treated like royalty as we checked in and they remembered us from our visit 3 years ago. We spent the first night March 20, in a secluded reef anchorage at the north end of Kaneohe. Thanks again to Bill on Pegasus who told us about the spot.

We had friends flying into Honolulu on the 22nd but staying close to the Kaneohe Yacht Club so we wanted to get tied up and take the bus back to the airport to meet them. There is only one dock space we can tie up to at KYC due to our draft and wouldn't you know it, someone was there. We called the club and found out Neil was the acting harbor master so we called him. He knew the spot was taken but we offered to raft up and instead, the owner also had a mooring ball and let us use that for the 2 days he needed to be on the pier.

The club didn't charge us to use the pool, showers and dinghy dock until we moved our boat in on Wednesday, sweet!

We offered to buy a drink for the owners of the mooring ball Tuesday night and as we are getting acquainted, they asked if we wanted to house sit for 4 days starting Thursday because their regular person couldn't do it. I was leary because I wanted to be close to our friends and it ended up the owners also had the cottage attached to their house where our friends were staying!

We kept it a secret until Thursday night when Scott walked right into their home and made himself comfortable and our friends thought Scott was way out of line to be so bold!

We had a nice sail one day, played on the sand bar, swam in their pool and lots of touring days in the rented car. Well worth you stopping there.
