We have left Pokai Bay and are heading for Alaska but unfortunately we had one goof. We went ashore last night for a dinner out with friends and left recycling with them. This morning I could not find my camera which was only a few months old. Low and behold, I called our friends and it was in the recycle bag and we have to stop at Makua Harbor to retrieve it.

This meant I had to disconnect the inflatable paddle board that was securely fastened to the deck for offshore, and be prepared to make a beach landing with it. I can't believe it all worked out. Our good friends, Danny and Charissa drove 5 miles up the coast for the designated retrieval and I had to fight off the land breezes which made the inflatable go in circles rather than head easily into shore. I read the beach swells well enough to be able to ride one in, jump off at the right time and meet them.

I had my dry bag ready to put my camera inside and after I had rested up a bit, Danny helped push me past the shore waves and the winds help blow me back to the boat, a fair distance for me but doable!

Oh well, I am sure the rest of the trip will be great!
