Starstruck
20 November 2009 | Savannah, GA
Bob and Jackie met us today and after a few choice brews at one of Bob's favorite watering holes, they took us out to Tybee Island. We had a great lunch/dinner at a colorful local restaurant called the Crab Shack. The tables were outside and even Murphy was welcome. The restaurant was the home to a number of very large cats and although Murphy was fascinated, I think he still remembers having his derriere kicked by Ed & Lynn's Bowden when Murph was just a pup.
After eating, we headed to Fort Pulaski to take in the sights. We were surprised to see people in period costumes and though a reenactment event was taking place until we saw the high boom trucks and lights. A movie entitled the Conspirators was being shot and since it's a public place, we were allowed to walk right up to the edges of the set. Murphy was enthralled with the horses and I was sure he was going to bark between Action and Cut, but for once he stayed silent. Once in the fort, the director walked right by us and yes, the rumors we'd heard were true, it was Robert Redford. The Robert Redford. I couldn't help staring like some star-struck groupie. The picture, if you look carefully, is proof. So once again, Jackie and Bob, tour guides extraordinaire came through with a real winner. Oh, and the fort was pretty cool too.
So thank you, thank you, Bob and Jackie, for a wonderful day and we'll see you in the spring!
