Milepost Zero

13 April 2008 | Elizabeth River, Norfolk, VA
WhooHoo!! We made it!! We stayed at the north end of the Dismal Swamp Canal last night and were the first morning customers in the lock, along with our cruising buddies Royal Serf and Adrianna. This buoy is considered Milepost Zero on the ICW. There are still 50 miles from here to home but we're on familiar waters now so there's no stopping. The trip up the bay was cold and blustery, but the barn door was in sight so we hoisted all the sails and kept the motor running at full bore. We were home by dusk and lines were made fast by about 8:30.
Murphy could scarcely believe it and the grin on his face stretched from ear to ear. He went out about 10 times between the time we got home and bed just because he could.
