Back in Playa de Salinas
22 June 2008 | Salinas Puerto Rico
Capt Chris, clouds and sun, ENE trades 20kts and hot!
Home again aboard Christa. She was tugging at her mooring lines just like I left her nearly two months ago. Juilo, who lives aboard with his wife two slips down kept an eye on Christa and fired the engine a couple of times while I was gone. So happy to be back aboard.
I left California on Wedsday evening and had two layovers, one in Vegas and one in Charlotte before landing in San Juan Thursday afternoon. I was more than exhausted. My Puerto Rican buddy Tito picked me up from the airport and gave me a ride to the Coast Guard Base to pick up my car. I then made the hour and a half ride to the south coast.
Things are pretty much as I left them. The Hotel/Marina is a zoo on the weekends as the local Puerto Ricans pile on in with boats, jetski's are their thumping latin beats. The weather is decidedly hot! This will take some getting used to especially sleeping at night. But during the day, of course I'll be pool side at the marina.
My sister Tracy and niece Alexa will be coming to town next week. So we are ramping up tourist type activities and lounging operations. I really excited to have them visit me.
Hurricane season began June 1st, but really doesn't become serious until August. So post family visit, I will turn my full attention to H-preps. I plan on writing about the preparations and all thinking that goes into it. Writing about it helps me think through all alternatives. So that's that from Puerto Rico!
