Here is a picture of the kid front and center in the blogging position. The Cruiser's Galley is a cool little resturant/hanging out for sailors holding tight or just passing through Salinas. The place has AC, big screen TV, several computer stations and Wi-Fi. Many people spend nearly the entire day at the Galley. It is a daily stop for me and spend a great deal of time in the chair.

I highly encourage all hands to download the Google Earth program. I extracted the image above from Google Earth where my progress is being tracked. Each yellow square denotes a blog entry from the past. It is a great way for people who just stumbled upon my blog to get up to speed rapidly in terms of the where's and what have you's. Just like in XPLOT, you can click on the yellow square and up pops the blog entry for that position. Very cool. You can download Google Earth by clicking on the link under "Favorites" to the right.
So to access the blog via Google Earth click on the Current Position Map link. The XPLOT map then loads. At the bottom of the page you'll see the Google Earth tab, click on it. A dialog box should pop up asking to load the "KML" file using Google Earth. Once you click "Ok" your computer should automatically load the already downloaded Google Earth Program. Once the earth pops up within the Google Earth program, you may have to rotate the globe to the Caribbean, where you will see the image above.
Please let me know what you guys think about this process and the whole Google Earth angle.
Thanks!

Home again aboard Christa. She was tugging at her mooring lines just like I left her nearly two months ago. Juilo, who lives aboard with his wife two slips down kept an eye on Christa and fired the engine a couple of times while I was gone. So happy to be back aboard.
I left California on Wedsday evening and had two layovers, one in Vegas and one in Charlotte before landing in San Juan Thursday afternoon. I was more than exhausted. My Puerto Rican buddy Tito picked me up from the airport and gave me a ride to the Coast Guard Base to pick up my car. I then made the hour and a half ride to the south coast.
Things are pretty much as I left them. The Hotel/Marina is a zoo on the weekends as the local Puerto Ricans pile on in with boats, jetski's are their thumping latin beats. The weather is decidedly hot! This will take some getting used to especially sleeping at night. But during the day, of course I'll be pool side at the marina.
My sister Tracy and niece Alexa will be coming to town next week. So we are ramping up tourist type activities and lounging operations. I really excited to have them visit me.
Hurricane season began June 1st, but really doesn't become serious until August. So post family visit, I will turn my full attention to H-preps. I plan on writing about the preparations and all thinking that goes into it. Writing about it helps me think through all alternatives. So that's that from Puerto Rico!

I wrapped up my five day stint in Sonoma County and headed south to the tech laden Silicone Valley. I'm staying with family friends Joanne and Marc in their lovely Spanish Villa. I am so lucky to have such great friends. Everywhere I have traveled people have opened up their homes and lives for me to parachute in for a few days. Such a peaceful place. Check out my temporary bedroom.
