Bottom repair and cleaning

20 May 2012 | Dartmouth, NS
Well I have taken Clarity out of the water and started to work on fixing the keel where I ran into Ives Knoll last summer. There were a lot of mussels and barnacles on the bottom. After scraping them off and many hours of sanding I was ready to put filler on the keel. I have never worked with filler before and was worried about how much hardener to use. Thanks to my friend Peter from Wanderer, Eastern Passage who came and showed me how it was done.
It wasn't hard at all, knowing how was half the battle. It turned out pretty good so I then coated it in Interloc 2000 sealant/primer. I covered it all in three coats of anti-fowling paint and now just waiting to be put back in the water after the long weekend.
