San Blass

We arrived mid June of 12. We had high hopes for the San Blas but were a bit disappointed. Still nice but very crowded. Checking in fairly easy and navigation is simple. People friendly but one can clearly see the Kuna's starting to embrace some capitalism. Some are charging you to anchor off "their" island, and the number of times your are approached to buy things gets a little old, although they are always pleasant and will take no for an answer.
Many cruisers stay there all season (dry season) year ofter year. We would never consider it. Four weeks was plenty for us but admittedly we do like a bit more island activity such as hiking, restaurants, beach bars occasionally.
We did have one surprise our second day as while having coffee in the morning we noticed the 6ft Boa

We departed Lake Michigan in June of 08 the day after we married on our 2001 Moody 46, s/v Glass Slipper. We headed through the Great Lakes, the St. Lawrence Seaway and down the eastern seaboard to Hampton VA. After doing the Caribbean 1500 to Tortola we spent a full season in the Caribbean. In April 09 we shipped the boat to Genoa, Italy and sailed the Med. In September 2010 we departed the Med out the Straights of Gibraltar and went down to Morocco followed by the Canary Islands where we crossed the Atlantic with the ARC to St. Lucia.

During our time in the Med we started thinking seriously of changing to a cat. Although we are healthy, I (john) have some cervical neck issues leaving one hand a bit numb. The stability and ease of moving about sounded pretty darn good as there have been a few times in weather I was not sure how good a hold I had as the numbness can make that perception hard sometimes.

So...April 2011 we sold our Moody and took her to Ft. Lauderdale to the new owners. Shortly after we purchased a 2008 Lagoon 440 cat in Tortola, new name "Cynergy".

We have decided to start blogging to share our experiences and joys with all. We have learned how special the cruising community is and enjoy all the interactions. As we start sailing the cat we will update with some of the changes for us going from a beautiful mono, to a perhaps not so beautiful "plastic fantastic". Or as my wife explains it "our new life in a double wide".
