New York, New York

We pulled in to Great Kills last night and had the anchor down at 5:49 p.m. It took 6 days and 5 hours to go approximately 1100 nm. We did ALOT of motoring - probably 80%. Oh well, ya can't pick the wind. Dale had hoped to make it in 8 days so we really did well. The Gulf Stream pushed along for most of the way from 2-4 knots. Obviously a great help. Today we headed in to NY harbor with plans to drop off Steve at the 79th Street Marina so he could sightsee and then catch a plane at 9 pm. Then we will continue up to Hudson River. It was fun going through the harbor again. Steve and Lora were very busy taking pictures-we're like a bunch of kids! When we dropped Steve off Madeline wanted to walk to shore so she could put her feet on the American soil! Then Wyatt says to me - "Mom-it's almost like we are LEAVING home because the Caribbean is our home." Then he shakes his head as says "It's complicated". There are definitely a lot of mixed feelings but we are all happy to get back to "normal" and take on the next phase. For me that's means finding a new job as I am (sadly) not going back to Xcel Energy. So - we keep moving forward - well, up river for sure!!
