Madeline's b-day was Wednesday January 25th. She really wanted a party but unfortunately the only folks we had met (My Deere) had hauled anchor the day before. It was still a great day. Madeline did diving in the morning. Then, we let her pick the restaurant and we went to Devil's Table for dinner. We arrived a bit early for dinner so we walked over to Coco's for a drink. Then we walked along the beach a bit picking up sea glass pieces.
Dinner was fabulous but we were the only people in the place. We have noticed that things are a bit slower down here than usual. The economic crisis is truly world wide.

We have been in Bequia for a week. I really like this island when I chartered down here and I have not been disappointed!!
Last Sat upon arrival we just hung out on the boat. We laughed about how no one really cared about getting off the boat right away!! On Sunday our neighbor Jim from "My Deere" came over to visit. Then he went a get his wife Deanna and son Stephen too. They hadn't met a lot of folks and wanted to venture out. Geez - lucky they didn't stop at a boat of shy people :-). Needless to say we chatted all afternoon!! Turns out we knew some of the same folks (sailing related) and Dale had been on his boat (Hylas 46) at the Newport Boat Show. More small world stuff.
Monday we took Madeline in for a "Resort" dive with the offer to let her get certified if she really wanted to. I went on the dive too and had to say it was some of the best coral and fish I have seen in along time. We had mexican for lunch afterwards (yum) and stopped at "My Deere" to saw hi. We ended up spending the whole evening with them and played an exciting game of yahtzee. We think it might have been fixed since Jim got 3 yahtzee's and Deanna came in second by ONE point. I was third.
Tuesday we had school, etc. while Madeline went back to the dive shop to start her course. That evening we saw our FIRST GREEN FLASH of the trip. Yes, it does really happen. We watch every time the conditions are favorable and finally scored.!!
