Milestones

June has been a month of milestones for us. On June 2, Adler had his kindergarten graduation and turned 6 years old. We’ve been here with him for three full years at this point. He’s changed from a highly verbal and sometimes very annoying toddler to a highly verbal and usually fun and engaging little boy. He and I are pretty good buddies now. He goes for walks with me, “nature hikes” he calls them. He’s interested in all the plants and animals and rocks he sees. We’re learning together about what is around us here.
Probably most significantly, on June 19 Jamie had her graduation. She made it! She is a licensed and board certified family physician. (Yes, she passed her boards, too, and quite handily.) From all reports she is a very good doctor. I know she is a very good person. And, she has a good job. She starts July 13th as the fifth partner in the Family Medical Group of Texarkana. Bud and I met the senior partner the night of her graduation, and he’s very laid back. We all think this is a great place for her. I am so happy and so proud. I just have to say…she did it…we all did it!!
Finally, today, Bud with the help of a friend from Bayland Marina and his son, delivered Earendil to Pier 77 Yacht Services in Galveston. I met them there with Matey and the car. Earendil will get new bottom paint, a new autopilot and a couple of minor repairs. We are in a motel for the night and will return to Texarkana tomorrow and then leave for a long trip to see family and friends in Western New York about Saturday.
These are all good things.
