Baja with the Kids

Becky/Sunny and Warm
We left Boise at 1:00 a.m. on June 6th. After a long drive through the night we stopped for breakfast in Ely, NV and then proceeded to Las Vegas where we spent a few hours walking on the strip and walking through some of the casinos. We then drove to Tucson where we met up with Kari Olson and ate some fabulous Sonoran Hot Dogs at our favorite restaurant.
The next morning we continued on to San Carlos and arrived around 5:30 p.m. Of course the first thing we did was head straight to the boat. It had been broken into in January so we were anxious to see what the damage was. The items we found out that were taken was our stereo, our binoculars, a small handheld compass. These were the initial items that were taken. Later we found we were missing our toiletry bags, our towels, a soft cooler we had on board. I wasn't too upset until I found out they stole my propane curling iron!! GRRRR
We spent a few days in San Carlos getting the boat ready to go. We were invited to our friends Billie and Roger's house for a pizza party. Boy do they know how to throw a good party. They invited this guy who played his guitar and sang some amazing songs. The kids had so much fun.
On Monday morning around 3:40 a.m. we weighed anchor and started our crossing towards Baja. We saw whales, dolphins, sharks and mantas on our crossing. We arrived at Santo Domingo around 4:00 Monday afternoon. We spent two nights here. We brought our new bocce game to the beach and a good time was had.
The second night Kelly began feeling ill. This kept him down for the next few days.
More to come . . .
