SV Fandango

In 2013, we left the bitter cold winters of Northeast Saskathewan, Canada to experience life as cruisers on the Pacific Coast of Mexico.

Detour to Mazatlan

Decided we would like like to re-visit Mazatlan after having such a good time here two years ago when William came at Christmas. So rather than go on to LaCruz and be there till LiznB arrive in Jan, we hung a left and here we are in Marina Mazatlan. After a night of fast downwind sailing, we arrived in medium winds and lively waves. Ian handled the fenders and dock lines while I maneuvered the boat into the slip. I thought it had gone perfectly (no small feat). One marina helper motioned for me to come ahead but the boat wouldn't move. I kept edging the throttle ahead but still nothing. Discovered the helper at the back had already tied us off. The two staff couldn't agree on where we should be.

Three nights out means never sleeping more than 2 hours in a stretch so we were anxious to do our check in, shower, eat and go to bed. Fortunately, we cleaned up at bit before we went to the office. We met up with cruising buddies on Myla and another couple on Hotel California. So we got all revived and spent the next hour or so catching up on the whereabouts of all our cruising acquaintances . I didn't have a beer as the patio tables and chairs were already swaying back and forth... A normal sensation after 4 days at sea. They invited us to go hot tubbing at ElCid but we were beat and have agreed to going into old town Maz tonight.

Here for at least a week. Lots of boat jobs: diesel leak, water maker hose broken, radar doesn't work, new instruments to install.. and less critical stuff. But first laundry and rinse salt off the boat with fresh water.

Didn't wake up once between 8:30 and 5. Feels so good to have slept.
