Day 9 - Fiji to NZ

On Day 9 we entered the New Zealand EEZ. The goal of the day was to try and get as many miles to the west as possible to best position ourselves for the Low Pressure system that was approaching the north of New Zealand. The good news was that this system was a relatively calm one, and we were expecting too much in the way of high winds and big seas. The bad news was unfortunately the winds weren't very cooperative and we spent much of the afternoon and evening hours motoring. Add another day to the trip! The westerly winds from the approaching low finally did arrive and we had a great day of upwind sailing - heading towards NZ and our date with the low pressure system.
