It LIVES!!!

07 April 2012 | Black Point settlement, Great Guana Cay
Gary
After weathering the front coming thru last night with minor squalls & a major wind-shift, we were up this morning having swung over 180 degrees. And suddenly were within talking distance of another sailboat (NOT a good thing). So with NE winds at 15+kts, we worked our way back out to the Exuma Sound (the deep water side) and headed SE. With just the jib up, we were going 7 mph - bouncy but comfortable. We came inside at Dotham Cut. It looks nice & wide on the chart and is about 200 yds wide - but with looming solid rock cliffs on both sides & the wind/waves braking around & behind us, it looked REALLY narrow!! Turns out, no problem and 30 min later we're anchored off the town of Black Point.

We headed into shore - rowing the dinghy with Windy eagerly anticipating getting on land. Black Point is a quaint place and the people (like everywhere here) are very friendly. They were having a fundraiser for the school, so we had lunch (ribs & fresh snapper). Then it's time to row back to the boat - against the wind & current... it ended up taking both of us rowing together to make headway.

Brad is now energized to take another crack at the outboard. So we pull the spark plug, check the fuel line, remove & clean out the carb - put it all back together and IT RUNS! (: It turns out there was water in the oil, so we drain & fill that & then run it for several minutes - no problems, runs great. It's a great day!

When I get wifi, I'll upload the before pics of the engine.
