Grenada Carnival
14 August 2012 | St George's, Grenada

We're still in Prickly Bay, off L'Anse aux Epines (pronounced Lansopeen) and have run into the couple on Karma, who we knew from West Palm Beach (& ran into in Salinas, Puerto Rico).
We took a taxi to St George's (Grenada's capital) with some other cruisers anchored in the bay to watch a parade celebrating Carnival. This is a 2-day event when almost every business shuts down in order to join in or waqtch the celebrations.
The costumes were simply amazing! There were very young people and very elderly people in the different groups. I created a new photo alblum with pictures of the various groups & people in the parade. While I've seen photos of these celebrations, being there in person adds a whole new set of dimensions in observing it.
We had hoped to have the boat hauled out of the water this week to get a number of things worked on. I talked with a ncouple people, one who works for a business in the boatyard, and it sounds like that may well not happen for a month or two as they are really full right now with boats stored for the hurricane season. As they are also closed until tomorrow (Wed), I'll check with them then.
