On Wednesday, Windy and I went for a walk down a path that I saw while walking her in the morning. The path is very well used and easy to follow. It went from Clarkes Court to Hog Island. There is a bridge to Hog Island. It was locked so we could not cross to the island it's a private island). I wanted to get more exercise so I took this walk again on Thursday. It was about an hour walk.
I decided to go to the Hash on Saturday. A Hash is a walk or run. Many cruisers go, however it is an event for Grenadians. The walk is usually 3 miles and the run is usually 7 miles this is hilly and steep in many places and muddy if there has been a recent rain. The trail is marked with shredded paper to keep you on track. The reason I went on this Hash is because they had a Mamby Pamby walk (for beginners) too. The taxi drivers will take you there and they also take dogs. Windy enjoyed her first ride in a van in eight months. First the runners start. Then the people who are fast walking start. Then the walkers start. I went with Gay from Island Time. The walk started out on the beach. First we had to cross a stream that was flowing into the water. Then we walked a ways down the beach. There was a shredded paper arrow that went into the brush. There were several thorny bushes. I was wearing light long pants and my sunscreen shirt. We went through the brush then back to the beach. This time the walk was in the water about thigh deep. I was hot by this time so I turned back. I did not want Windy to get soaked in salt water. If it was fresh I would have done it. Since so many people had walked this the shredded paper was not as easy to see going back. At one point I was going straight and Windy turned. She was right of course - my great tracking dog. When we got back to the start we had walked for an hour and 20 minutes. There was a bar and restaurant that had bathrooms. There was food already prepared. Rice and beans, soup, or oil down were there. People who had taken the walk came back after about two hours. Those that took the run took longer. I got a certificate for my first Hash. There was also a ceremony where beer was poured over the new people to the Hash. Fortunately I missed that. There is a party after the Hash.
Gary is coming back on Wednesday. Yeah!!!
