10 March 2014 | Fort de France, Martinique
Gary
We left Dominica last week and sailed south to Martinique, going into Fort de France. Our schedule was dictated by the start of Carnival as we wanted to get here for it & a bit early to get a decent place to anchor. Good thing too as the anchorage filled up quickly in the few days between our arrival & the start of Carnival.
Unfortunately, wifi access on the island is spotty and not at all reliable. There are also several maintenance tasks I need to do now that Carnival is over & we have time. There are also a couple posts about our time in Dominica that I want to write up as well. However, I thought I should at least post where we are and a bit about what we're doing.
We did meet some other boats that came in after us that we've known from other islands - Never Bored (Chris & Shelia), Windswept Dreams (Ed & Ann), Spindrift (Brent & Mary) and Just Imagine (Robin & Cheryl). We ended up having Sundowners (Happy Hour) on different boats several evenings. Everyone brings their own drinks & snacks to share and it turns into a great time.
The picture is from an island tour on Dominica at a place called Red Rocks. It's an OLD volcanic out-flow (into the sea) that's quite interesting.
