Finally in the islands
02 February 2007 | Bimini
The weatherman says it is not really a good time to cross but if we wait for a perfect window we won't make it across the Gulf Stream! So we leave Boca Chita at 0600 hrs. and go out of Cape Florida. The conditions are 4-6 foot seas and winds out of the south at 15-20 knts. We make the crossing in record time for us. We covered the 59 miles in less than 9 hours, under sail alone. The new sails are a pleasure to work with and they produce more power.
We come into Bimini at around 1600, and tie up at Weechs marina. A quick clear in and we are street legal. We are officially on "island time".
