We spent two days exploring the creeks and beaches of Shroud Cay. And had snacks with "Rum Tum Tiger", Craig and Mary are very sweet, and hopefully we will be spending more time with them. Also while enjoying a great sunset we did see a very good "Green Flash", the first of the season for us!!!!!!!!!!!
It is the 25, Craig and Mary head for Cat Island and we head for Hawksbill Cay. It is a beautiful island with a great beach which we can get within 25 yards of. We have great protection from the North and East so it is very calm and a nice spot to hang out! Hawksbill is one of, if not the, most beautiful island of the Exumas chain
The weather forecast is calling for a strong front to come through on Sunday, with strong westerlies. The only spot with protection from the west, that is close, is the southern anchorage at Wardwick Wells Cay. It is located between Hog Cay and Wardwick Wells' southern end. So that will be our next destination!
It is a great sail down to Wardwick Wells, and out of the cut, the only problem was the tide opposing the seas, so it bounced us around pretty good! But the short trip from there down to the anchorage is nice and the anchorage is really nice. Great protection from all directions, so the Admiral and I settle in for a couple of days of hanging on a mooring ball.
The trip is going very well and we are both having a blast and enjoying the freedom and stress lees life to the max

Well it was a few days from hell!! We are not big fans of Nassau anyway, but the last few days really sucked. We dragged our anchor every time the tide changed. . The wind was 25-30 knots out of the NNE mixed with off and on rain! When the tide switched, we would be broadside to the waves, (2-3' standing wave, wind opposing current), coming down the channel, which made us roll side to side. Not any fun at all!!!!!!!!
We reset over and over, we even tried a stern anchor, and it dragged. The tide change was naturally in the middle of the night, so anchor watches every night, all night. And we were literally 50 feet out of the channel. So large, not huge, freighters and tugboats would come by within 20 feet, wave at us, and smile.
Now finally the weather changed and we headed for Shroud Cay, the winds were light and on the nose, so it was a motor run all day. But that gave us a chance to make enough water to fill all the tanks, while under way! All the while, decompressing from the stress of bad weather and big city hustle and bustle, and watching the water get clearer and clearer.
Shroud is beautiful, shallow with, deep sand bottom, and very quiet! Shroud is the northern boundary of the Exuma Land and Sea Park. SO no fishing or hunting but lots of beaching and exploring. The interior is all mangroves laced with creeks, while the east side is Atlantic beaches with reefs, so all is VERY WELL!!!!!!!!!!
