Doerte on SV "Elan" tried to get as close as possible to the Flamingos in the bay to take photos... but her shoes nearly disappeared in the thick mud.

Salt mines and Morro at Monte Cristi
10/20/2009, Dom.Rep.

The salt mines are still in production.

The Morro (Tafelberg) has an impressive majesty and beauty, from which one can view the entire bay with its cays and system of coastal lakes.

Columbus was so impressed with the terrain that looks out onto the sea that in his diary, he wrote the following: "This Monte Cristi is very beautiful and high and walk-able, of such a lovely form and to stay here up high, seeing it from afar, it seems an Island that does not have any connection with any land...".

Land trip to Monte Cristi

Peter and Cade on SV "Sand Dollar were out there for the ultimate adventure and fun...

but be carefull:
the use of Jumping Stilts can be very dangerous and can result in injury, or death. (but we still had so much fun)

Dirty Hairy

That's what it looks like when Peter is using the cleaning mop the wrong way...

10/09/2009, Luperon / Dom.Rep.
