Nearing the End of the Cruising Season

Alas, the cruising season for another year is nearly over. It's been a long time since my last blog post and I apologize for that as we just spent the last month savoring our last weeks in the San Blas Islands of Panama. The last weeks were marvelous with mostly beautiful, sunny weather and fabulous snorkeling excursions. I hope to post photos once we are REALLY back on land with a fast internet connection.
So, here we are in Panamarina where we will leave the boat for the next several months and return to the USA to visit family and friends and work (there's that 4-letter word again!) to replenish the cruising kitty.
Our last days here are filled with boat chores to get the boat layed up for the season--stowing sails, removing deck gear & anchors, washing all of the laundry and snorkeling gear, wiping down the cabins with a (hopefully) magic solution to inhibit mold/mildew growth, etc. It's a busy time and quite a chore in the hot, humid still weather that prevails here at this time of year with occasional rain squalls and lots of no-see-ums.
Gone are the crystal clear aquamarine waters and lazy afternoons snorkeling the gorgeous reefs of the San Blas. Sigh. But we are lucky enough to have had the opportunity to once again enjoy this great cruising ground!
