Dunes Galore!

Just a short 30 mile drive south of Morro finds us at Oceano, Ca. It’s a small community just south of Pismo Beach. There are 4 or 5 little burgs all connected and don’t add up to much size-wise. Still has the central coast flavor, but you can start to see some LA tint. The campground is beautifully located on a ridge overlooking the valley and mountains to the east and the massive sand dunes (See photo) to the west. The sand dunes are a massive barrier to the ocean…we’re talking 200-300 ft dunes here folks! And they go on for what looks like a mile or so. As I sit at the dining table right now I have both views. Pretty amazing.
Yesterday was a short trip into Pismo Beach (5 miles) to check out the local flora & fauna. The center of action is a beautiful fishing/walking pier in the center of town. Lots of t-shirt shops, souvenir shops, & eating places all around the 3x2 block downtown area. Looks like a good place to hang out and spend time before heading into LA to meet Bryan and the family for a Thanksgiving celebration. More to come.
