Voyages of Liberte
Navy escort

Our MVP crew Bill Bell has arrived, Liberte is fueled up and cleared out, and our weather window is open for 3 days in the notorious Gulf of Tehuantepec. Our first traffic sighted out of Huatulco is this Navy boat that hailed us in excellent English to give us a weather briefing, inquire after our plans, and ask if we'd seen a missing cruising vessel. They told us to hail them on VHF 16 if we needed assistance of any kind. They have a base in Salina Cruz.

Shore showers have never been this romantic!

Southbound fleet

Marina Chahue is home for Liberte and a dozen or so other El Salvador-bound boats while we wait for the best time to transit the Gulf of Tehuantepec.

Checked the town out on Google Earth and it looks like a potential stop for the Canyonwren South of the border express in two years. Keep us posted on the best of the best. 14 degrees this morning and a longing for Mexico. Take care you three, the dream continues. --- Deaner

She's found the water again....

A beach of our own

Walked the dog one morning and stumbled onto this place.....

Huatulco canal

The roads, waterways and infrastructure here are first rate. The landscaping is beautiful. And the elementary school has a swimming pool for recess time.
