Sally Rainy and Blowing stink
Lee Sea Ann I is here with us and we are planning a dinner together on Light Reach tonight. It is nice to have fellow cruisers to commiserate with and share sea stories. Right now we are having some serious rain shower with Thunderstorms predicted for later and gale force winds. On a dock is a very good place to be. We had hoped to walk to town but it is raining so hard that would be a very wet walk. We had a visitor this afternoon this little lady was looking for a crew position but the CSO said she did not meet muster so we said Thank you kindly but we have no need for feline crew at the moment.
We have been on our way for one full month now. Our expectations were a bit rosy on the starting front to say the least. The cold has us feeling discouraged and the ditch is much more of a challenge than we had initially thought. Running aground is a hazard every day and finding anchorages that will take our draft difficult. This we did not expect. Each day we get a little further South is encouraging but the consistently bad weather systems have us on docks more than we had thought we would and we have sailed much less since we left the Chesapeake. We had considered going outside when we got to Georgia and if we can get a warm period we still might. Right now without a full enclosure it would be foolish to attempt as hypothermia during the night time passage would be a real issue. It would be a 36 hour passage for us. It is good that we both have lived in cold climates and thank goodness we packed on warm clothes. Losing my Mother was a tough blow emotionally and mentally. The first month hasn't been exactly living the dream the way we planned it but we have made new friends in fellow cruisers, seen parts of the country we had not seen before and come to appreciate Light Reach for a whole host of new reasons. The picture is of our visitor this afternoon and just for you Deb because I know you would have taken her in. I am sure she is the Marina cat and taken care of very well.

Scott and Sally met in college, married and lived the average dirt dweller life for years always somewhere near the water. We fell in love with sailing in the early 90's. Summer of 2014 we both retired and became full time cruisers. [...]
