A northwesterly blew into the Sea of Cortez a few days after arriving in San Evaristo. We knew it was coming, so made sure we arrived early and put the anchor down in a sheltered spot before too many other boats arrived. We waited it out for 7 days, with 35 kt winds and little williwaws passing by the boat. We were buffeted around for a few days, and then waited until the swells out in the channel calmed down enough for a our return south. George and Janet were to fly back to Yellowknife for Christmas and we had plans to leave the boat in the marina, rent a car and drive to San Diego the week before Christmas. We stopped in at Ensenada el Cardonal for one night, before Susie departed for La Paz early the next morning. This being our last opportunity to enjoy the islands, so we decided to stay over another night on anchor. And ho, just as Susie was disappearing around the point around 7:00 am Sherpa (Joe and Jami) come on the radio; they are heading toward us and did we want to anchor with them somewhere. We hadn't seen them for a year. They too had returned home for the summer, to Alaska, and on their return had driven back to Puerto Escondido to where they had left Sherpa. We anchored together in Ensenada de la Raza and they came aboard for a pizza lunch. The remainder of the day we swam and snorkeled along the shoreline, and the next morning headed back into La Paz.
