I posted in our Weekly Wrap-up from 7-13 Jan
[ see http://svoctopussy.com/the-weekly-wrap-up-7-13-jan/]
that I called Accent Graphics in Annapolis to discuss boat graphics.
We need to put our boat's new name on her. However, when talking with Chris, the graphic artist, he mentioned that it would be better if we had someone else remove the old graphics, as opposed to him (for the low-low price of $85/hr he was going to charge).
So, I got onto the Cruisers Forum to check out how to best remove old boat graphics. Everyone has an opinion (what is it they say about opinions?... they're like a$$holes, everyone's got one) Anyway... I tried many different methods.
I settled on the 3M Adhesive Remove Wheel and had great success!
After removing the graphics with this awesome gizmo, we sanded the area lightly with 220-grit sand paper on an orbital sander. We experimented with 800 and 500 grit, which both worked, but we were going through sanding discs like crazy. So, we opted for the light touch with a 220-grit.
I still have to go over the area with rubbing compound; but after that, our boat will be ready for her new graphics! Can't wait.
Tomorrow I'll post the proofs that the graphic artist sent us. This is one of the fun projects... not like removing the old holding tank.
