Continuing the work

20 September 2013 | Sarnia Ont. Ca.
Back earlier than expected from India and we are back to work on Phoenix. Managed to get it in the water where it is much easier to get on and off and where the engine can be tested. This has taken more time than expected and i hope it will be able to get to the travel lift under its own power by the end of the season that is coming much too soon. It has been sooooo nice to get back to this project. with all the work done under the waterline this year it has been hard to see the progress but being in the water has been a big step and seeing that the bilge pump has not had to cycle in 2 months is encouraging.

First year back

Weather sucks
Wish we were here. 1 year has turned into 2 and the kitty continues to grow, i assure you this project will take care of that. Back at the end of a year to check on and recover everything for another year and then back to work. What am i thinking, India for a second year when i can be on our boats, the price we must pay to play.
There's no place like cruising, there's no place like cruising, there's no........

It has been a busy year reconstructing the coach roof and galley, getting new windows and port lights in and in general trying to get the boat water tight on the top side. It has been very hot working under the shrink wrap this summer but we got more than expected done.
Now we have been confronted with a totally unexpected proposal that will postpone/ delay this project. We first off returned from 2 years of cruising to reenter the automotive engineering field and now an offer to go to India for a year contract.
We cruised to see other cultures but also to sail. Phoenix will have to be tucked away and Rapscallion down south will likewise need to be put away after a bit of a vacation/ holiday use over the Christmas period before packing up to get to work.
We will be able to experience an area that we never intended to sail to and see a culture that has so much history, just no sailing. ( and no there are no charter companies here, heck I don't think there are any sail boats here)
Short term we have to put the project on hold, long term we will have more to put into the kitty and have a great experience at the same time.
