Sailing, Sailing......

08 March 2008 | somewhere out inthe Pacific Ocean
by Cheryl & Scott

0400 hours
Staysail & motor (to charge batteries) after losing winds, bearing 190o, 1.5kn, wind NW
Awesome neon green phosphorescence from the bow wake!

Becalmed off of Cabo Corrientes for 5 hours decided to just enjoy floating about w/o wind. Did some cleaning up and general enjoying of the beautiful sunny day out in the middle of nowhere surrounded by water/out of sight of land. My first though after realizing we were surrounded by water was to throw the life raft in just to have it there, but it passed. Sculled to wind and realized we were going nowhere with the currents. Headed off shore more to avoid currents then gave up and turned engine on when wind switched to the South locking us up off the cape.
Engine noise drowned out all the noise of the boat rolling (and banging) with the sometimes-bigger waves that rocked us to and fro - got little sleep. Remembered chocolate (and green tea) at 1 am to wake up - that's my story and I'm sticking with it! I prefer my caffeine in little squares of yummy dark chocolate.
