We Get To Go!!!!!!!!!!!

06 March 2008 | Marina El Cid
by Cheryl & Scott
leaving Mazatlan

Ray hailed us at 1200 from outside Mazatlan's harbor entrance not seeing us on deck when he motored by to let us know he was leaving - we were behind him managing to leave at 1500. A large power boat had docked next to us minutes before we were to use that space to break down the dinghy AND his bow was sticking way out making for a more interesting de-docking maneuver for us but Scott did great. Fellow dock neighbors showed up to cast off our lines - Tom sv Warm Rain & Steve and Linda sv Warren Peace.

Once out of the bouncy harbor mouth we set up sails, turned off the engine after getting off coast a bit and settled in for our cruise.

Saw the Southern Cross! Cheryl's 1st time. Spectacular starry night skies, as this is my 1st time sailing at night without a full moon. Fishing trawler close by, changed course to stay out of his way only to find ourselves more in his way (or he was messing with us as they are known to) - changed back to original course and he finally passed us. Un-nerving. Mostly we just settled into 4 days of sailing. 3 hour watches. No contact with sv Pavane. Had fun checking out the radar with big ships in view.
