We're about half way through our trip. Scott saw dolphins and 1 freighter last night - our first on this trip. Still rolly - hoping it calms down once we clear the headland of Guatemala. Little to no wind.
Off MX/GT boarder last night around 0100 hours (the scene of one of the recent 'dead sailor stories'- but we are far off shore).
Turned off engine 1100 hours to conserve fuel - set poled out jib and main - barely managing 2 knots/hour.
I had a serious craving for stuffed peppers so I braved the rolly galley and cooked up some grub. No ground beef so I went veggie and stuffed the Mexican chilies with lentils, rice (cooked in beef bouillon), mushrooms, Parmesan cheese, powdered onion & garlic cooked in jarred sauce (to reduce my time in the galley) - yummy!
Saw more dolphins and sea turtles, heard fellow sailors Tropical Dance, Moody Blues and Wahoo (m/v) on the VHF. I wanted to call and say hi but we like to be 'incognito': we figure no one can bother us if they don't know we are out here - exactly where we are.
Turned on engine and took in all sails except mainsail @ 1930hours. Cloudy skies and yellow full moon - no traffic at all.
