Still Here

18 June 2008 | Bahia del Sol, El Salvador
by Chery who else?

Well the rain stopped for a bit so we tried to dry everything out, after we spray and rub it down with vinegar. Canvas seems to attract mold like new Sunbrella material repels rains - that's not the same is it? Anyway. We are re-thinking canvas as maybe not a good material for a boat in the humid climates.

The forecast for 14 days of sunshine started off with 3 nights of rain, at least they were mild rain storms. Actually we wanted it to rain to prove to us that all the chalking Scott did would be the sure-fire fix to all the leaks. Well we were dreaming. At least one of the major leaks seems to have lessened!

Collete & Murray of sv Tarazed returned. Nice folks. They have the other mooring field alittle further down the water way. They used to pilot people over the bar- they are the ones named in the cruising guides but I guess have other things to too (not sure why they don't any longer) like a haul out yard and stuff.

mv Frayed Knot arrived with a volleyball net and ball so we have been having regular games in the pool for exercise and fun.

It was my turn to be itchy: bug bites & heat rash. But I got alot of home remedy suggestions to try - thanks to Mom, Lela of sv Yachtsman Dream, sv Petra, etc.,etc. It seems to be getting better.

We MAY also leave this place withOUT it being the usual Chinese fire drill. I hope, I hope. We have fuel, just got water, changed the head(toilet), even put the pilot berth back together (where one of the leaks were).

Westsails have an interesting history. They were designed after pilot boats, boats that were made very sturdy so they could spend hours in rough seas.
