Separation Anxiety

Sometimes life happens. When we left La Paz the plan was to spend the next 3 months out and about in the Sea and get the boat bottom painted in Puerto Escondido. The hope was to make up for last year’s shortened cruising season. Well, I’ve always said life is one phone call away from change and I got the call. My mom called asking me to come home to help her after she took a couple of falls. I caught a flight out of Loreto leaving Scott on a mooring in Puerto Escondido and have been here for the past 10 days.
Mom is healing and we have accelerated her move up to Everett into a senior apartment leaving me packing and packing and packing. 23 years in one place tends to allow a lot of accumulation! Scott has the boat out of the water and is living on the hard in the yard while the painting is taking place. He’s serviced the thru hauls, filters and other assorted boat systems making good use of this time.
Mom and I did travel to our house in Everett for the Easter holiday where we got to spend it with family. We had a great time and enjoyed the time away from the mess of boxes. Moving day is the 20th and I’m hoping that a flight down to Loreto will happen very shortly thereafter. Until then I’m hoping the phone doesn’t ring again.
