Breakdown Looming Ahead

We are on the last 24 hours of having my sister aboard and then as soon as she heads to the airport we'll begin pickling the watermaker and taking sails and canvas off of the decks to be stored below for the summer hurricane season. We are trying to finish off all open and frozen foods so that a minimal amount will need to be given away to either fellow cruisers or dock workers. I want to try to use up the canned goods that have been on board for the last year as well.

The weather has heated up; yesterday a high of 98 kept us under the shade and laid low for the afternoon. A nice cooling wind came up overnight dropping the temperatures to 64 for wonderful sleeping. It looks like the next 4 days when we'll be doing the bulk of the work will be 90 or lower, wonderful!

I have some nice photos of our time up north in the islands but didn't bring down my camera cord to transfer photos so it will have to wait until we are back in Everett. We did have a great time, making it as far north as Isla Carmen in the Loreto area. We spent time in Ballandra, Salinas, Agua Verde, Punta San Telmo, St.Marte, Puerto Escondido, Juncilito, Candeleros and Isla San Francisco. Most of these were new for Mona and as expected they are all favorites.

If we work hard and finish before Thursday we'll go spend a day or so at the timeshare in San Jose del Cabo before boarding the plane. Lynsie is picking us up at the airport in her new car. Fruits of being a member of the working class and maker of car payments!

We are now preparing for the final hurrah before we pack it up and head home. Just in time I might add, or perhaps a little too late as it is forecasted to get up to 107 this week in La Paz.

We spent the last three days out at Bonanza Bay. It is a beautiful spot on the south end of Espiritu Santos Island. Lots of shells and white sand is the claim to fame here. The water is sure warming up and is probably around 80 degrees now making snorkeling possible again. It needs to clear up a bit as it is still murky clear down to about 25 feet.

My sister Mona returns to see us on her second visit since we've been down here. I guess that means she likes it here! We hope to spend most of her two weeks out at anchor and perhaps get her as far north as Loreto. Time will tell as it depends on weather and my work allowing me to disconnect from internet/cell coverage for that period of time. When her two weeks are up then we'll disassemble the boat for hurricane season and head back up north for the summer. We are booked to fly out of Cabo on June 7th.

We have called this the "Lost cruising season" because we haven't spent much time down here this year and even less time out and about exploring new places. All has not been lost however because we've had great times and weather. We've had visitors from up north and we've met new people down here. I guess you could say we've still enjoyed being "Lost".

Hope the weather stays good for you. Sister will get a dose of really warm weather. Here the hemacaine(lol) is coming early this year. Hope you get out before you have to deal with HIM!. Enjoy watching your adventure from afar. Hugs and love to you all.
Spring in La Paz

We are still in La Paz. We did make it out for a week up to Isla San Francisco and San Everisto. We spent some good times getting caught up with Steve and Charlotte on Willful Simplicity and new friends Tom and Jeannie on Eagle as well as others.

The weather is heating up here predictably. We've had a couple of days into the 90's and I think today will be another one. We try to do the walking and physical chores early so we can take siestas or just lay low during the heat of the day. About 6 we climb in the dingy and go cruising about to help cool off and see what is happening around the marina and outside the breakwater.

Scott's sister, husband and their friends comes for a visit to La Paz next week. We'll take them out for day sails and tour them around our fair city showing them our favorite taco stand, trinket shop and other high points. After they leave my sister comes for a two week visit. After she leaves we'll have to figure out if we can go out for a while or if we'll need to return to Seattle. I may have some work that will require my presence in the NW. If that is the case we likely will pack it in early and head north. I'm really going to try and not have work keep me so pinned down next cruising season. Although I love being in La Paz and winter/spring here is great it would also be wonderful to be able to leave and be away out in the islands for a while.

Sorry there are no new photos. I forgot to pack the camera cord to upload photos.

Sounds great. we're heading north May 11 for the season. Small world in that we spent time in Aug. with jeannine & Tom at the Lats & Atts party at Sucia. They were "heading out" following the party!
We love you guys. See you in WA.
