Hello all,
"With a heart-beat rhythm of life unique in the world."
Tiare Apetahi Flower
"Upon Mt. Temehani on Raiatea lives the Tiare Apetahi, a flower so rare it can be grown no place else on earth. Each dawn the petals open with a slight crackling sound. Legends describe this as the sound of the broken heart of a common women who was not allowed to marry the son of the Tahitian king."
Today was a day that I will never forget for the rest of my life. Myself and a bunch of friends climbed the sacred mountain, Mt Temehani, found the sacred flower, Tiare Apetahi, and chilled in a spring fed waterfall and several pools that I could feel was a very special place. It was truly a mission and involved some serious trekking but was totally worth it. My friend tahina and I found the flower by ourselves on the slopes of the summit and he joked that not many americans had been there but I think it was the truth. You deffinatly needed a local invitation and guide. We rolled deep with over 20 family and friends from the village near the careenage. It was hands down the coolest thing I have done on Raiatea and top three for the entire trip. I feel like I am one of the locals and will be sad to watch this island and my friends slip beneath the horizon.

Sois prudent et si tu reviens, tu seras toujours le bienvenu. A bientôt mon ami !
This is just about as elevated as one can get on Raiatea..

But apart from climate, Tacoma must be a beautiful city.
However, our island is still unspoilt and wild, thankfully!

What the heck is that?

Lunch makings... I made big points by bringing canned corn beef. We had uru (breadfruit) baked in the ground, and bread and chicken and the beef. Very local.

A view down towards the anchorage with Taaha and Bora Bora in the background. Maupiti was also visable from Mt Temehani which is more than 50 nm away.

Hello All,
There is way too much for me to fully fill you in on what has been going on with Secret Agent Man of late. I am about to depart for the cook Islands but I am sad as this has become my home. I have lots of friends. I speak french. and it is alwasy hard to put to sea. What I take away is that I wantto come back. I have learned how to surf and do yoga and eat right. And I have a cat... He just said Hi. I am sorry for the poor blogging but I have been very busy. The last few days have been spent hiding from the cops and having King Kong fix my motor... His name is King Kong and yes I did run from the cops.. my visa was expired and I just didnt want to explain my exemtion. But all is indeed well and I will be putting to sea shortly.
Cheers

Hello all,
This is Mimi. He has been rescued and is the newest addition to the crew list. Hopefully both his and my karma are good enough to get us through any beurocratic difficulties in the countries we are going to visit.

Hello all,
after a month of waiting I do finally have a computer again. It is quite nice in many ways to not have a computer. My new Ipod also bit the dust a few weeks ago so I have been without anything to view in almost a month. Having nothing to watch turned out to be a blessing. I got everything that I wanted to do and more done on my boat. It has never been better prepared for sea. I learned a lot about yoga and was given a very comprehensive book by my friend Liz on Swell (a Cal 40). And everyone is showing back up to their boats and I have met cool people form a dozen different nationalaties. The point is that my days were a lot different and in many ways richer without the internet and movies. But now Im back and will enjoy filling you in on the last month and my plans.
Cheers

hello all,
Last night my computer bit the dust. I was watching a movie. One minute it was fine, and the next, it was dead. It has a full battery but does not respond. I will be trying to fix or replace it but for now there arent going to be any blog posts. Sorry.

I hope this message finds you soon enough... but either way... Happy Birthday! Hope you're having a great one, filled with fruit and fish and fiestas! I'm celebrating mine at the ranch in Costa Rica, (yep, still here) but with southbound plans in the next few weeks. I've grown to be quite the permaculture farmer this last year here, but I've a hankering to learn and practice more in the amazon... Vamos a ver! Much has changed on this end since we last spoke, but I bet you're still as sweet. May your day have no pirates and lots of bootie : ) Jungle hugs and kisses, Amy
Thanks for the birthday note. And hello all. I will probably be back in the water by the time I talk to you next. The boat is ready and is fairly well provisioned. My shore crew is working on getting a new computer in the post. I have 1 month left in this beautiful country before they kick me out...
All is well. Eric can follow his emails on my computer but hers should not arrive soon now. All is well. Perfect climate.
Alain and I had an epic car tour of the island today. Driving it at cruising speed takes about two hours. We stopped at Faaroa Bay and visited with a woman who Alain used to live with. Her house was beautiful. It was up on the hill with a sweeping view of the bay, and ocean, and mountains. We are going back there for dinner next week so I will try and get a photo. Mom would love her garden. We also stopped at a large Marae which was the spiritual center of all the islands in the past. Even the Hawaiians sailed here for social and spiritual occasions which is a long voyage. Here is a pic of a motu with Huahine in the background.
