Foggy Frisco
28 August 2010
We have arrived in San Francisco on Thursday afternoon Aug26th!. Which is also our 38th wedding anniversary. The trip down was a mixed bag with insufficient wind for the first few days, forcing an intermediate stop in New Port Oregon. After leaving NewPort we were able to sail with increasing wind for the next 56hours. The wind went eventually to 32kts allowing us to experiment with a variety of sail combinations ending at partially reefed main and no headsail surfing at 9-10 kts down the face of the waves. Eventually the wind moderated and finally diminished to the point that we motor'ed the last 20 hours putting us under the Golden Gate at 4pm Thursday.
We are presently docked at the Encinal Yacht club in Alameda, to reprovision, and start out on the next leg of the journey. We have been so focused on getting here as the goal that we have only a fuzzy picture as to what to do next. We have some rough ideas but it will be fun to simply wing it.
Thanks to my crew Denny, Don,Debbie, Rob and Dan for all the hard work much appreciated.
