The Grueling Bottom Job is Nearly Complete
13 September 2015 | Mazatlan, Mexico
Mark
Well, things are finally wrapping up at the boat yard. Speakeasy looks great! She has a higher waterline to reduce the green growth, a very shiny hull, and PropSpeed on the props and legs.
All in all, this has been the toughest bottom job that I have ever done. No, it wasn't tough because of the sanding, scraping, and painting. It was tough because it was the first bottom job where I haven't lifted a finger, and paid for the work instead!
Even in Mexico, the land of cheap labour, boat stuff still costs a pretty penny. But, I've been very pleased with Rick and his team at Marine Services Mazatlan
I won't be here when the boat hits the water early next week, so they are even going to put her back in her slip, with the help of Darrell and Rita from Overheated.
I'll be back in Victoria for a few weeks buying some boat parts, and taking a break from the warm weather. I'm really forward to sleeping under a blanket and wearing one of those things I seem to remember, called a "Jacket".
