Summer 2012 begins

After an interesting 12 months that took us on a side trail of our life we are again back on Thea for at least the next 4 months.

As I am writing this I am smiling at our experiences today. We started our journey this summer on June 1, we had already decided the night before that we would have to postpone our departure by a day. There was just too much, not enough time and we were just too tired to do another thing. It is always amazing that after a good night sleep life just looks fresh again, we had the energy to finish off the never ending to do list. By 4 we were saying our good byes to Emily who will look after our dog, Jake, the cats, the house and most important our lovely gardens. It was off to get fuel and a relaxing night in Garden Bay, where the story of our side trail began. The next morning we made quick work of 56 nm which got us to Crescent Channel, Doug was determined to get our main sail on before supper. It was 4, the winds were picking up to 9 knots, some nasty black clouds were approaching but we got the job done in 2 hours. We enjoyed a nice dinner as the winds died . This morning we were up bright an early, we needed to be off by 8:30 to get through Beazley Rapids and then the lower rapids. It spit rain most of the day, we wore our toques and fleese layers with our rain gear but we enjoyed the pacific white dolphin escorting us and numerous orcas. We are now tucked in for the night all is well.

Found a Pub for Canucks Game

Another not so nice day, so we putt around this beautiful area looking at it all, we found a short hike, checked out the marina where we will leave Thea, but most important we found a pub to watch the game tonight. Go Canucks Go

Another quick trip to new anchorage

This weather has to improve some day. When we got up this morning, pretty as Secret Cove was we left early to beat the rain. Pender Harbour is another beautiful place, quiet with loads of marinas, boats, and cottages. The rain held out although no one could say it's a nice day out. Thank God! for my mothers hand knitted socks and my toque.

Time to Leave Smugglers Cove

The wind started to pick up in the wrong direction so we pulled up the anchor and motored less than 2 miles to this tiny cove behind an island in this cove of cottages. We both think we could live here and we haven't even got off the boat. I know LOL. We listened to the Canucks game and unfortunately again we were glad that we could hide our faces as the goals did not go our way.

Lazy Motoring Day

After 4 nights in False Creek, at the dock, a great Canucks game at "Vancouver Pizza" AKA Boston Pizza pub with most of our girls and their partners, more sorting and organizing, a repaired pump seal and way too much rain, we headed out late this morning. The sun is actually shining but it is still cool with the breeze. The poor captain dodged all the logs while the admiral snoozed on the new cushy cushions. The cruising life is sometimes a tough one... for some anyway. The anchorage is a bit crowded, we are debating if we will move else where tomorrow. We need to find a pub for the next Canuck game!
