I could type on and on about how the above episode played out, but I've learned something in our last year of cruising, and almost daily blog posting. It's often best to not clutter a simple event by typing on and on about it. So I've already said too much when the above photos say it all, time to shut up.

Dorado at Dawn

11/02/2009, Location tracking map updated with our 0920hrs position

As the sun was just starting to rise over the Mexico mainland mountains, I watched as a 18lb bull Dorado struck our cedar plug lure. I screamed DORADO ON, and the sleeping crew rushed up into the cockpit for the excitement. It took 20 minutes to land it, but our ice box is now stuffed with Dorado filets as we approach Santa Rosilia. I managed to cut my finger while cleaning the fish and then later smashed another finger on the same hand trying the catch the boom as it tried to fly across the deck, but it could have been worse, I could have caught it with my head.

We are 7 miles out of Rosilia and are looking forward to Dorado for lunch followed by a famous Bacon Wrapped hot dog for dinner!

0045hrs and Underway
Capt Rich
11/02/2009, full moon and calm seas

Tracking Map updated with current position as of 0045hrs Monday morning.

It's currently 0030hrs and we are making our way south. The full moon out tonight is lighting our way with the wind at 6-8kts off our stern gently pushing us towards Santa Rosilia. We just passed a large shrimpper on his way north and in short, it's a beautiful night. We left the San Francisquito at 1800hrs, just as the sun was slipping below the mountains and so far have had an uneventful passage. SV Windfall is a few hours behind us, as they decided to rest until midnight before starting south.

We should reach Santa Rosilia sometime around noon on Monday and are looking forward to seeing our friends on SV Ocean Blue, who spent the summer in Santa Rosilia. With the arrival of THIRD DAY and Windfall, all of the kids boats will be in Rosilia, so I'm sure the kids will have a good time.

The kids are sleeping in the V-berth while Lori's napping on the port seate, having just came off watch.
