9 Different Anchorages in One Day
Capt Rich
11/09/2009, It was almost like a day at work!

1355hrs, current position updated on tracking map

We are currently anchored in Playa Santispac and are a bit tired from running from anchorage to anchorage gathering film and photos for our Video Cruising Guide for the Sea of Cortez. We managed to visit and film 9 different anchorages today inside Conception Day, and a few times it almost felt like work, almost! As Lori pointed out to me at the mention of the four letter word WORK, the very thought of it after cruising for a year now upsets the stomach. A common discussion among cruisers, and a constant question asked on the various cruising web chat rooms is how to earn a living while cruising. The reality is that the very nature of cruising doesn't tend to support work, unless you are a writer, which almost every cruiser fancies themselves. However, I know better and realize that it isn't my writing that keeps blog followers coming back, it's the photos. So it's at times like this, when I'm away from an internet connection and left only with ham radio blog posts that don't allow for photo uploads, that a little preplanning saves my bacon. To give the blog readers what they really want, I preloaded a few photos up onto the net so that I could then link to them by having the saved URL code. So enough of me, and lets get down to why you are here!

11/09/2009, but without the sweat!

0933hrs

We are currently motoring with the sails tucked nicely away under their Pacific Blue sail covers, as there is no wind, but at least the sea is flat calm.

I just came back below after being called up on deck to watch a pod of Dolphins swimming and jumping at the bow. (photos to follow when we get internet access). Cortez is sleeping in the v-berth and today is right out of the pages of a glossy cruising magazine, complete with Dolphin photo ops. There could sure be worse places to be on a Monday morning, and it's days like this that make us want to figure out a way to never come back to what cruisers call Reality. So if you haven't already placed your order, by buying a copy of our first DVD: A Cruisers Christmas, you can help keep us out here by adding to our cruising kitty.

With the crew on the bow watching the Dolphins and me down below begging for dollars, who's at the helm and watching the depth sounder? I had better wrap this up and get up there so that any money we make from the DVD won't need to go towards repairing the hull after running aground!
